So last night / this morning I had the chance to attend a midnight screening of “The Avengers”-the newest film in the Marvel Universe. Directed by Joss Wheadon-the film takes place after both Iron Man movies, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America. It picks up with Nick Fury accidently bringing Loki to this world-and he begins to wreak havoc on the Earth. Out of desperation, Nick Fury decided to enact the Avengers Initiative, and bring Iron Man, Cap, Hulk and Thor together-along with Black Widow and a debuting Hawkeye to fight off the Asgardian menace.

The movie is full with GREAT action sequences, and a ton of fantastic one liners from Mr. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Even a few HILLARIOUS moments involving Captain America and a police officer, Hulk and Loki, and Hawkeye and an invading alien scourge.

I dont want to give away alot of the plot or anything-but trust me, its a solid effort. The individual character plot lines flow VERY nicely, and no real loose ends are left. The cast gelled together, and Mark Ruffalo is the best Bruce Banner yet. Like I said, I dont want to go into too much detail-because I dont want to spoil anything for you-but just trust me on this. Avengers is a fantastic ride, and worth every cent.

Rating: 4 stars (out of 5)
