So 2011 is gone, and we sit on the precipice of 2012. 2011 was interesting for me. I jumped into the podcast world with Slice Of The Net, and Nerdy Nothings. I gave up on blogging about gadgets with Mobile Unwrapped. I’ve dove head first into an obsession with tokusatsu, I changed my cell phone number…and provider….twice….and I lost my job
oh..I got married….that’s probably the biggest thing of the year.
It’s been interesting.
So with that, what does 2012 hold for me? I don’t know. I really don’t. I see my friends doing things I wish I could do, such as making movies, and making music, and being successful…..
I’ll be joining the homeowner world in a few weeks. that’s great….
I really don’t know what 2012 will provide for me, but I’m ready to rock n roll….
expect more blogs and reviews here. Creative Commons is far from dead….expect a new weekly (editors note: maybe?) web comic on Pariah Pictures (as well as some cool posed pictures)…..
2012….the countdown to the apocalypse has begun!
Power Rangers Samurai is FREAKING HUGE.
Seriously. It’s not the hulkamania levels of popular that “Mighty Morphin'” was in the 90s, but jesus christ, “Samurai” is doing very well in the ratings (that Saturday @ Noon timeslot is HIGHLY coveted…) and the toys are selling EXTREMELY well. Probably the first Bandai of America toyline that DOESNT SUCK COMPLETLY, at least in a VERY long time.
Leonardo Da Vinci was considered a genius of his time. Light years beyond what anyone else could even conceive. He has been heralded as one of the greatest men of science of any era-and now he has his rival in the after life.
So, over the last month- DC Comics hit the “soft reset” button….Here are my thoughts on each book of The New 52…as well as a quick “Keep”, or “Pass” rating.
I’m going to organize this the way Wikipedia has. The books are set up into different categories…so..let’s get into it!
I’ll be honest. I didn’t even really want to WRITE this blog. After spending most of the day ignoring Twitter and Facebook in regards to the Anniversary of September 11th-I decided to see if there was a second attack today-because you know, our ever knowing always right government said there would be.
If anyone is doubting the value of an $8.99 Netflix Streaming subscription……than I present to you, Exhibit A: All 700 (and 32..) episodes of POWER RANGERS available On Demand. Yes, every episode from “Day of the Dumpster” to “If Venjix Won” (plus 32 “reversioned” episodes….let’s just pretend those don’t exist…k?)
I can watch these episodes from anywhere. My TV, my laptop, my iPhone, my iPad, Karen’s iPad, the store’s iPad…ANY-FREAKING-WHERE-I-DAMN-WELL-CHOOSE. That alone (plus other greats like 90’s Spiderman, 90’s X-Men, Spiderman Unlimited, Rocko’s Modern Life, Invader Zim, Big Bad Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, Family Guy, and a whole crapton of other stuff in my Instant Que….) makes Netflix worth the $9 a month I pay for it. Sure beats buying all that on
DVD Blu Ray right? (editors note: i refuse to buy DVDs anymore…it’s Blu Ray or bust.)
So, what does that have to do with this blog? I know, I blogged on this topic a few months ago-when Power Rangers first launched on (and broke) Netflix…so why bring it up again?
Well, because I made a deal with Madison-who is IN LOVE with Power Rangers Samurai, that we would sit down and watch EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. OF. POWER. RANGERS. Guess what? That’s exactly what we did, and exacty what we’re doing. We recently finished up the series-that-started-it-all. “Mighty Morphin”. All three seasons of it (..and the 10 part Alien Rangers arc, which got a separate section for some odd reason?) Looking back on the show, nearly 20 years later…I have some [more] nostalgic thoughts on the show…so let’s dive in-to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers……
you count the medals one two and three…..
I won’t lie, when I first heard the opening theme to “Kamen Rider OOO”-i was IMMEDIATLY turned off. The character seemed overly campy, the premise bizarre (even by Japanese standards…which..well..Gokaiger.) and after watching the first couple of episodes, I chalked OOO up to being the Goseiger of Kamen Rider……the first Rider show i’d skip….
..thank you GOD I decided to give it a second shot.
