Alternate Title: Fuck “The Avengers”

2012 has been one FUCK of a year for comic book fans. First, we all jizzed our pants over “The Avengers”, and now, we can gather around the table and give thanks to our Savior…to quote Kevin Smith. “Our father, who art in Gotham. Cowled by thy name.”

That’s right kids. Let’s all RISE, and take a look at THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Also known as “The Greatest Movie of 2012”

REVIEW: Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2011-2012)

And there came a day unlike any other

Where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes found themselves united a common threat

On that day, they became…THE AVENGERS!

So I’m going to start this by saying: I’m a DC guy. DC overall has had better television, better animation, better toys, and just more interesting characters to me. That said, I do enjoy some Marvel characters. Spiderman, Gambit, Deadpool, Venom….characters that in no way are involved in this show (well, Spiderman…). However, I enjoyed the Marvel movies-and decided to give “Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes” a try, since Season 1 was available to me on Netflix. I made this descison after getting swept up in “Avengermania” leading up to seeing the movie in May (which may or may not be reviewed a few posts below).

Since than, Avengers; EMH has become a regular watch for me, to the point that I’ve gone as far as finding rips from episodes that have not aired in the US yet (on Disney XD)-because America is the only country that stops shows in the middle for no apparent reason.

So how did it stack up? Did it become the first Marvel series to be put in my top animated comic book films of all time? Find out, as we Assemble….after the jump!

TOY REVIEW: SH Figuarts “Super Shinken Red”

Company: Bandai of Japan

Purchased From:

Cost: $50

Line: SH Figuarts / Samurai Sentai Shinkenger

Figure: Super Shinken Red (Takeru Shiba)

Earlier, I reported on my addiction. My expensive, addiction. SH Figuarts. Since than, I have added Kamen Rider Fourze and Super Shinken Red to my Figuarts lineup-and I’m here to talk to you about the latter….

I give you Takeru Shiba…Authorized by providence, the 19th Head of the Shiba Clan…..SUPER. SHINKEN. RED. *cue Shinkenger opening*

The posability and overall awesomeness is still there from the original ShinkenRed figure, we just now get the fancy elvis jacket. Included with Super Shinken Red (outside of the usual array of hands) is 2 discs (the Super Disc and the Bull Disc), a ShinkenMaru, a Bull Cannon, a Shodophone, and a Black Box (im sorry, I cant remember the names of everything in Shinkenger, so somethings will be given their Power Rangers Samurai name)

Now, unlike the standard issue Shinken Red-this one is NOT available at Toys R Us (yet..). I purchased mine from BBTS for about $50. Its not terrible for the figure-plus its just been released-so its nice to not have to wait months for it. 🙂

The jacket looks very nice-and is molded to the body of the figure. Part of me wishes they just did a super mode accessory pack for the standard issue figures-but the idea of having two ShinkenReds posed together on my shelf is pretty damned awesome…

Overall, its a great figure and compliments my standard ShinkenRed very well. Worth the price of admission-and while the figure isnt super heavy on the accessory count (again, outside of the standard hands)-the accesories it DOES come with are pretty awesome. The discs fit onto the ShinkenMaru, into the canon, and into the black box-which is pretty neat.

TOKU REVIEW DOUBLE FEATURE: Gokaiger vs Gavan on a Flying Ghost Ship: THE MOVIE!

This is a first for us here at Creative Commons. Our first DOUBLE FEATURE REVIEW! The reason I’m doing it this way, is that despite my undying love for all things Gokaiger…I don’t really feel either of these movies deserve their own single review post. Today, we’re going to look at the second and third films from 2011 that feature everybody favorite Pirate Rangers, the GOKAIGERS! First up is the summer film, “Gokaiger The Movie: The Flying Ghost Ship”-which was double billed with the Kamen Rider OOOs movie, which may or may not of been previously reviewd right here on this site.

The second part of the review is the annual Sentai Versus movie, Gokaiger vs Space Sheriff Gavan of the Metal Heroes franchise (whose source material was used for not only VR Troopers, but Big Bad Bettle Borgs as well!)

So, since this is a double feature, let’s dive into Gokaiger and the Flying Ghost Ship……and remember-let’s make it extra showy!
